Hi,

A WSD for a boy sounds like a great idea!

The rides at She Got Bike are for women only BUT your son is totally welcome at the Festival and we would love to have him there.

Trek will be there all day and he can test ride a few bikes and talk to the Trek representative. Plus there are other exhibits he may enjoy. And food of course!

Please let me know if you have any other questions - and if you are planning on riding.

My young (11 yr old) son has shown a repeated interest in road cycling. Is it ok to bring him to ride in his first road event and demo a small WSD? I am considering a WSD to fit his smaller stature rather than buying a "kids" road bike.

All the routes are on paved roads so I recommend a road bike or a hybrid with not too much tread on the tires.

Are the bike routes paved or trail? It would make a difference in the type of bike I would use at the event. Thanks for putting together this event!

Absolutely! In fact, one of the primary purposes of this event is to give women who are just starting out with cycling - even those who don't have a bike yet - the opportunity to come out and ride and learn more about cycling.

I will enter a full post on this, but in the meantime, for those of you who don't have bikes right now, Trek Women's Specific Traveling Van will be on site at 7am with bikes for you to take on one of the rides.

Of course, we can't guarantee that if 50 women show up without bikes that Trek will have enough for everyone, but typically the vast majority of riders do come with bikes, so there are plenty of bikes for those who need them.

For those that are interested, but don't have an adequate bike yet or a ride to the event are there carpools, bikes to rent, etc? It sounds like something great that I would be interested to check out. Let the rest of us know if there are options and opportunities.
